Buddy, was one of the original founding members of our club. Buddy rotated with other hams in running the KY wide area repeater net on 444.050 and holds the record number of check-ins for that net. Buddy encouraged ham radio rag chew sessions and continued to run the Stubblefield Health & Wellness net on 146.535 simplex. Buddy was a true Elmer in the ham radio community.
Alva Junior “Buddy” Kidwell, 82, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022 in Louisville.
Buddy was a member of Dover Baptist Church. He was retired from Bell South and was a Navy veteran. He was a member of the Stubblefield Repeater Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Alva and Minnie Pearl Birch Kidwell; his sister, Jessie Lee Kidwell; and her sister, Robert Kidwell, William S. “Boots” Kidwell.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Kidwell of Shelbyville; his daughters, Vickie Anderson (Scott), Cheryl Poe (Maurice) both of Shelbyville, Janine Baker (Rick) of Pendleton; his sons, Scottie Kidwell (Renea) of Jeffersontown, Keith Kidwell (Patty) of Shelbyville; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and his sister, Dorothy Kidwell Fulbright of Santa Maria, CA.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Dover Baptist Church in Shelbyville, Kentucky.
